Those of us who follow the fortunes of the Scottish Parliament will wonder what all the fuss was about.
The 31st. January 2002 will be remembered as ........... The headlines boomed from every newspaper, had someone in the Parliament raised some point of order that would change our country for ever, were there no waiting lists at hospitals in Scotland, unemployment zero, the M74 extension approved, the Parliament building would cost another £50M to complete, what could it be ...........an MEP had had enough, he declared in Parliament that he was a Freemason and proud of it, he demanded that the fact be recorded and urged that other MEP`s do the same.
Keith Harding was the man but what was his reason?
Well Tricia Marwick, MEP is so relaxed about the state of the country that she has led a crusade to have Freemasons, Members of the Orange Order, The Knights of St. Columba and others declare themselves members in the register of interests.
Bro. Hardings call was heard and
next day another three masons declared themselves MSP`s or should that be MSP`s
declared themselves Freemasons !
But no ! how many more are out there, why haven`t they declared their interest and .......... what about the Knights and Orangemen? no joy!
Phil Gallie another declared mason insisted that he would not be declaring his membership in the register of members interests. " I make no bones about the fact that I am a life member of the Freemasons, but I have no intention of registering it unless people like Tricia Marwick start registering the fact that they are members of the Womens Institute or other such organisations".
Quite right, there may be an even
more dark and mysterious element in the House.......... Reliant Owners Club
Members. Now would you declare if you were one?
