Oban Trip Cancelled The 2011 visit to Lodge Commercial No. 180, Oban which was scheduled for 26th. March was cancelled by Lodge Commercial at very short notice. The reason for the cancellation was that the Provincial Grand Lodge of Invernessshire would not grant the necessary Dispensation for our visit. This was because the Provincial Grand Lodge had an official visitation in the Province on that day and to encourage attendance at this meeting they do not allow any Special Meetings in the Province when they are meeting. Because of the hotel cancellation Lodge St. Bryde lost a considerable sum of money. The good news is that Bro. Ronnie McCarney had at very short notice arranged for the party to go to Melrose again because of the timescales a visit to Lodge Melrose No. 1 could not be arranged but arrangements were made to attend the Installation of the Galashields Lodge No. 262. Visit by Lodge Tollcross No. 1194. Bro. Alex Hamilton, R.W.M. welcomed Lodge Tollcross to our Lodge on Wednesday 9th. March. Lodge Tollcross worked an excellent exemplification of the F.C. Degree. Bro. Alex McLaughlan, R.W.M. 1194 was delighted at the response of the 579 Brethren for their efforts. Wed. March 23rd. Bro. James L. Jack, Provincial Grand Master led a large Deputation from Provincial Grand Lodge on the Annual Visitation to the Lodge. Accompanying the P.G.M. were Bro. Duncan McIntosh, S.P.G.M. of Provincial Grand Lodge of Glasgow whose Mother Lodge is Lodge St. Bryde 579, Bro. William Hotchkiss, Past Provincial Director of Works of West Lancashire and an Affiliate Member of Lodge St. Bryde 579 and Bro. William Perry, Depute Provincial Grand Master Designate. A large Deputation from Emblem Lodge , Blackpool headed by Bro. Gordon Smith, Worthy Master were visiting our Lodge to witness an excellent exemplification of the E.A. Degree carried out by the Office-bearers of the Lodge. Bro. Gordon Smith, W.M. presented the P.G.M. with a suitably engraved tankard to the P.G.M. to mark his Commission as P.G.M. and to further cement the relationship between Emblem Lodge and Lodge St. Bryde. Historical Visit. Wednesday 13th. April will be a date to remember in the history of our Lodge. The reason being that Lodge Mother Kilwinning No. 0 will be visiting the Lodge to confer the E.A. Degree. Accompanying the MK0 Deputation will be Bro. David Bloomfield, Provincial Grand Master of Kilwinning and Bro. James L. Jack, Provincial Grand Master of L.M.W. a Member of the Mother Lodge. The Degree will be very interesting as 579 have asked MK0 to include the historical lecture which they give to their E.A.'s It is a great honour for our Lodge that The Mother Lodge of Scotland has agreed to visit Lodge St. Bryde and there is sure to be a large attendance to witness this historical occasion. |
