Lodge St. Bryde News.

Highland Visit.

Bro. Wayne Price, Past District Deputy Grand Master of Virginia and a member of Lodge St. Bryde No. 579 visited Scotland during the first part of April. The main purpose was to attend the Grand Lodge celebrations but also to visit Lodges while he was here.

Accompanied by Bro. James L. Jack, P.G.M. the following Lodges were   visited, Lodge St. Kilda No. 881, Skye, Lodge Kyle No. 1117, Kyle of Lochalsh, St. Peter`s Operative Lodge No. 284, Thurso, Lodge Latheron No. 1424, Latheronwheel. Interestingly, a photo was on the wall of Lodge St. Kilda, No. 881 dated 1979 showing the Deputation from Lodge St. Bryde No. 579 with the St. Kilda Brethren. The photo is attached, do you recognise any of the faces? (see over)

New Member

Derek Mulholland received his E.A. Degree from Lodge Mother Kilwinning No. 0 at a very well attended 13th April Regular Meeting. It was a unique occasion as this was the first visit of the Mother Lodge and Bro. Derek became the youngest member of the Lodge, having celebrated his 22nd birthday just two weeks earlier. Derek is a Welder and Fabricator and his father Bro.    Duncan Mulholland and his Uncle Bro. Charles Nelson were    respectively his Proposer and Seconder. His Grandfather and his Uncle, both Bros. Charles Mulholland by name, were also present at the Meeting. With such a family tradition we wish Bro. Derek a long and happy masonic career.

Obituaries.

Bro. William Murray, Past Master.

At the 23rd March Regular Meeting of the Lodge the brethren sadly heard of the death of PM Bro. William Murray. Bro. Murray was Initiated into the Lodge in 1952 and became RWM for the year 1965, his father had been RWM six years earlier. Bro. Bill emigrated to Canada a few years later, where he had resided ever since, but he still kept in touch with the Lodge through its  Homepage and he contributed to the Lodge through correspondence. He was the longest serving Past Master on the List of Installed Masters and the Lodge stood for one minute’s silence in tribute to his memory.

Gordon Lambie.

Brethren were sad to learn of the sudden death of Bro. Gordon Lambie on Thursday 21st. April 2011. Gordon had been confined to a wheel chair for many years and because of ill health has not been a regular attender at our meetings. He always had Lodge St. Bryde at heart and took an interest in how the Lodge was          progressing. Bro. Lambie Affiliated from Lodge GarrowhillNo. 1413 in 1991 and held Office in our Lodge for three years.

Last Meeting, 27th. April 2011.

Bro. James L.  Jack, Provincial Grand Master attended the       Regular Meeting of his Mother Lodge, St. Bryde No. 579 for the last time as Provincial Grand Master. Bro. Alex Hamilton, Right Worshipful Master presented the Mallet to the P.G.M. who thanked him for the privilege of being able to occupy the chair of his Mother Lodge again. The P.G.M. addressed the Brethren     present and thanked the Members of his Mother Lodge for their tremendous support which he has received over the last five years. He said that it had been a privilege to have been Provincial Grand Master and that the objectives which he had set for the Province had been achieved and in some respects exceeded.   The Province was in high standing in Grand Lodge and we should be proud of our standard of organisation, ritual working and charity giving.
