Burns
Supper Report. Bro. William Perry, President welcomed a large company of members
and friends to the Annual Supper which was held on 8th. February in the Masonic
Hall. The programme was a well selected blend of some of our own club members
and visitors who had been invited to entertain.
The
Haggis was piped in by David Stark, P.G. Piper, assisted by Bob Edgar &
Bobby Abercrombie, WSW &WJW. Andrew Martin, Immediate Past President
addressed the Haggis in his usual splendid manner. The company the enjoyed an
excellent Fare which was followed by two presentations. Firstly, Bill Perry,
President presented a Past Presidents certificate and jewel to Andrew Martin.
Andrew had been President from 1998 to 2002 and had led the Burns Club out of a
very difficult period in the Club`s history.
Under
his leadership the Club flourished to it`s present healthy position. The
President then called on Jim Jack to present Billy Steel with an Honorary
Membership certificate and jewel. Billy had been very supportive of the Club
over a number of years and was unanimously elected the second Hon. member.
Later, Billy proposed the Immortal Memory which was a fitting tribute to the
Bard.
Jane Ross who had been specially invited, sang beautifully and her sense of humour kept the company entertained - superb! Our own Members were in great form, Tom Huxtable who had only just joined the Club gave Willie Wastle, Bob Smith, Hon. Member read Tam O` Shanter and Douglas Welsh read Death and Dr. Hornbrook - all in an excellent fashion.

company roaring with laughter at some of his lines. Jane Ross gave a reply on
behalf of the Lassies which was well thought out and skilfully delivered. Ronnie
McCarney proposed the Toast to the Artists and in his usual manner had the
company in stitches.

his closing remarks Bill Perry, President thanked all those who had organised
the evening, which had been again a tremendous success. At the close all the
