Provincial Grand Lodge Office Bearers The
collection at the Installation totalled £860 which was presented to the Grand
Lodge Benevolent Fund. The Dinner which followed was attended by 375 Brethren. The toasts were
presented by, Bro. Kenneth Kennedy (The Grand Lodge of Scotland), reply
by Bro. Sir Archibald Orr Ewing, Grand Master Mason. Bro. Alex Galbraith,
Provincial Grand Master of Renfrewshire West (P.G.L. Lanarkshire Middle Ward),
reply by Bro. James L.Jack P.G.M. Bro. George R. Kelly, Past Provincial Grand
Master (The Daughter Lodges) and
our own Bro. Andrew McAlpine, P.M. Secretary replied. Bro. James Jack, P.G.M.
intimated that the proceeds of the raffle would be donated to the Maggies Cancer
Care Centre, Wishaw. Excellent prizes, including a laptop computer, a four ball
golf match at Gleneagles and a bottle of blue label whisky. The target sum of £1,000
seemed to be achievable, but no one expected the magnificent sum of £2,218 to
be reached. This meant that two Charities would now benefit from our efforts.
The Maggies Centre £1,700 and the Lanarkshire Cancer Care Trust £500. The
P.G.M. also presented a cheque for £1,000 to the Grand Lodge Benevolent Fund
and £1,000 to the Scottish Masonic Homes Fund. The Grand Master Mason was
absolutely delighted to accept the Donations from our Province. At
the conclusion of the Installation around 120 Brethren and Ladies attended an
informal reception in our Temple. The reception which was arranged by Bro.
Ronnie McCarney was a tremendous success. The Right Worshipful Master of Lodge St. Bryde, Bro. Robert
Abercrombie presented the new P.G.M. with a beautiful decanter and
glasses and proposed a toast to his health and success. In reply Bro. James L.
Jack, P.G.M. thanked everyone who had helped make the day such a success and in
return asked the Brethren to be upstanding and toast Lodge

hope (that if my duties as P.G.M. permit) to continue as Editor of The

the evening I attended the Regular Meeting of Lodge Robert Burns No. 440 with an
unofficial Deputation from P.G.L. and witnessed an excellent F.C. Degree. On

tremendous occasion that was. On Tuesday 13th. June, I attended Lodge
Meridian No. 1779 of which I am a Founder Member and gave a Lecture on The
George Washington Masonic Memorial. On

an unofficial capacity and hope to share time with the Lodge members and discuss
their problems and successes
